Chorley Library Exhibition

Our exhibition in Chorley Library is now on display.  This year we have literally filled the community wall with paintings in all mediums as well as a few collages!

The exhibition runs until Saturday 28th May so you do not have a lot of time to catch this one!  Click the pictures below for a larger view.

Our Spring Exhibition 2016

We are pleased to be invited to South Ribble Museum and Exhibition Centre on our home turf in Leyland to present our Spring Exhibition.  Stephen Watson piped in the mayor of South Ribble Mary Green who opened the exhibition.

We are also pleased to be supporting floral artist Sophie O'Regan as she is exhibiting her end of year piece in the great fireplace.  She is in her final year of studies and she will be going places so don't forget you saw her here first.

The exhibition runs until the end of April but if you do not have a chance to see it in the flesh exhibits will be available to view in our members galleries on the Leyland Artists website from May. We still have our Summer, Autumn and Winter exhibitions to come this year so watch this space.

Christmas Party 2015

Every year on the last meeting we have a party.  Everyone brings a little something to eat and a painting they have produced during the year in question.  It is a time to chill out and relax and catch up with all the gossip in the world of art, family and anything else of interest.  There is nothing planned save for the voting on the pictures presented. It did seem strange to arrive at the art group without all the brushes and materials!

This year the John Emerton cup was won by Anne Bond, a clear winner with her picture.

Runner up receiving the Merina Bowlvase was Dave Jaundrell.

In our own email list members were set a challenge to solve, See if you can do it too. The answer is below (no cheating!).

Four exhibitions are already planned for 2016 and we are all looking forward to new opportunities the future will bring to the group

Dave Jaundrell has accidentally thrown away one of his paintings. Can you help him find it before it is too late?

You only have until the end of November to get on down and see it.  You can vote for your favourite painting. The winner is awarded the Blue Ribbon on the last Saturday of the exhibition.

Exhibition at Astley Hall Farmhouse Gallery

Our next exhibition is due to open on the 3rd of October at the newly refurbished Astley Galley in the grounds of Astley Hall. It will run until the 1st of November.

This 400-year-old Astley Farmhouse forms part of the town’s Astley Hall complex which is owned by Chorley Council who
£130,000 to refurbish the Grade 2 listed building so that it could be opened up to community groups as an exhibition space and workshop area.

Thirteen members converged at the centre this last Wednesday to prepare and set up the exhibition ready for its opening on the 3rd of October. Do call in and take a look round. Use the opportunity to visit the cafe and other activities taking place at the Hall.
